The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District preserves a regional greenbelt of open space land, protects the natural environment, and provides opportunities for public recreation and environmental education for the San Francisco Peninsula and South Bay, as well as the broader Bay Area region. The District is comprised of over 60,000 acres of land in 26 open space preserves.
The Vision Plan addresses the challenges and opportunities facing the District as it seeks to scale up resource stewardship capacity, increase connectivity to whole natural systems and protection of agricultural landscapes, and open more preserved land for public recreational access. The Vision Plan will guide the District’s work for the next 15 to 20 years and beyond.
As the agricultural sub-consultant, SAGE had primary responsibility for synthesizing information about cultivated agriculture and livestock grazing operations, as well as developing criteria for priority activities that the District can implement in order to sustain viable agriculture in the region.
